Hudson Institute, a nonpartisan Washington, D.C. think tank, is seeking applicants to fill an open, full-time position in its Development office. The Database Manager is responsible for ensuring the full and effective use of Salesforce to support Development operations. The Database Manager manages, develops, and maintains Salesforce as Hudson Institute’s donor database, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of donor contact and donation information, moves management, and structured reporting. The position requires a high degree of collaboration with other members of the Development team, with the aim of inculcating a culture of effective use of Salesforce among all Development team members—especially the Donor Relations Manager—to more effectively structure, organize, and support Development operations. The database manager reports directly to the Vice President of Development.
Essential position responsibilities include:
Assisting in the development and maintenance of data entry and Salesforce SOPs;
Managing all donor data entry according to aforementioned SOPs, including direct data entry and delegation of data entry to other team members as needed;
Working closely with Accounting and Office Manager to ensure integrity of donation caging and logging processes;
Training and supervising interns who may assist in data entry, as needed;
Maintaining the integrity and hygiene of donor data;
Developing and refining relevant reports and dashboards, as needed;
Running regular, periodic reports and specially requested reports;
Training other team members in the effective use of Salesforce to support their own development activities and to ensure redundancy in Salesforce operation;
Supporting a culture of Salesforce utilization to support all development activities and donor sectors—individuals, foundations, corporations, and international partners;
Ensuring all donor intelligence and moves for all donor sectors are appropriately tracked in Salesforce;
Supporting the integration of Salesforce with other systems (such as Campaign Monitor) and departments (Public Affairs, Government Relations, etc.);
Assisting Donor Relations Manager (and eventually Events Manager) with planning and execution of Chairman’s Advisory Board events; and
Assisting Donor Relations Manager (eventually Events Manager) with execution of certain mail projects.
