The Institute for Justice—the National Law Firm for Liberty—seeks a detail-oriented professional to fill the role of Development Associate. The position works with the Vice Presidents for Development and External Relations to sustain and grow the Institute’s base of Foundation support, while providing key support for IJ’s individual giving program.
The position is ideal for anyone interested in a career in development as it offers tremendous potential for growth for candidates with good writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as an opportunity to be a part of a highly productive development team as it raises the Institute’s $25 million annual budget.
-Draft and submit foundation grant proposals, reports, and other correspondence
-Draft and send a variety of emails, letters, and other correspondence to individual donors
-Process and acknowledge high-dollar donations from individuals and foundations
-Manage IJ’s memorial and in-honor-of giving program
-Identify, research, and follow through on prospective new foundation donors
-Manage and keep-up-to-date IJ’s pages on third-party sites (Charity Navigator, Guidestar, etc.)
-A proven ability to write for a variety of audiences
-Strong attention to detail
-The ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines
-Philosophical belief in in limited government and restoring constitutional limits on government power
-Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus
