The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) seeks a Director of Academic Network Relations. Reporting to the Senior Director of Faculty Relations, the Director of Academic Network Relations is responsible for coordinating the Relationship Management team. The vision of the Relationship Management Capability (RMC) is that graduate students and faculty in the IHS academic network have the material support and intellectual connections they need to thrive as teacher-scholars in the classical liberal tradition, and advance the principles and practices of a free and open society.

With support from the Director of Relationship Management Operations, the Director of Academic Network Relations is responsible for implementing and maintaining training protocols for Academic Liaisons (relationship account owners) and efficient team processes that foster exemplary performance of the Relationship Management Capability (RMC). The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining productive cross-team relationships, particularly with the Director of Relationship Management Operations, and Directors of Educational and Academic Talent Development Programs. The Director is also responsible for maintaining a portfolio of faculty and graduate student relationships.

The Director must be a strategic, innovative leader with excellent communication and team management skills and a demonstrated ability to proactively identify and seize opportunities for team and process improvement. The person holding this position works closely with the Directors of Educational and Academic Talent Development programs to ensure that IHS is offering professional development opportunities that advance the RMC vision.

Primary responsibilities:

Serve as the Senior Director’s deputy for the Relationship Management Capability (RMC)
Coordinate portfolio assignments and activities within the Relationships Management team
With support from the Director of Relationship Management Operations, implement and maintain training protocols for Network Liaisons (relationship account owners) and efficient team processes that foster exemplary performance of the Relationship Management Capability (RMC)
Establish and maintain productive cross-team relationships and optimal knowledge sharing, particularly with the Director of Relationship Management Operations, and Directors of Educational and Academic Talent Development Programs
Maintain a portfolio of faculty and graduate student relationships
Establish and deliver on measurable goals, as established by the Senior Director of Faculty Relations
The ideal candidate will have:

A demonstrated record of success in developing and leading complex programs
A demonstrated record of success in leading a team
Familiarity with and communications experience within the higher education environment
Excellent oral communication skills
An ability to identify and seize opportunities to build a more productive team and work process
