Executive Editor Posted Aug 09
The American Conservative magazine , Washington, DC

The American Conservative magazine is looking for an executive editor to manage the TAC Washington office, supervise editorial personnel, oversee website coverage (along with a co-executive editor who runs foreign policy and “new urbanism” coverage), maintain and monitor performance metrics, and contribute articles to the print magazine and website. This executive editor will work out of TAC’s 17th Street Washington office and report to TAC editor Robert W. Merry, assisting the editor as directed on all aspects of the editorial operation.

TAC publishes a robust and growing website covering all the major issues of the day, with a particular emphasis on foreign policy, new urbanism, and crony capitalism. We also publish a bimonthly print magazine that has gained national notice as a thoughtful, measured, and highly literate exponent of conservative thought at a time of change and disruption across the nation and around the world. Ours is a small staff that operates in a collaborative, congenial atmosphere, with plenty of intellectual ferment.

The successful candidate will have at least seven years of experience in conservative opinion journalism, demonstrating writing flair, editing ability, literary facility, and a broad knowledge of American political history and current events. An editing background is preferred.

Please send resume and cover letter to Robert W. Merry at rmerry@theamericanconservative.com.
