The Mercatus Center at George Mason University seeks a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Finance team. The candidate will provide financial reporting and analysis support to both the Mercatus Center and our sister organization, the Institute for Humane Studies.

Responsibilities include:
-Processing financial tasks while complying with standard accounting procedures and policies to maintain healthy and transparent organizations
-Collaborating closely with program leads to confirm accurate coding of expenses and revenue
-Preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and special reports to facilitate insightful and expeditious business decisions
-Maintaining balance sheet schedules including fixed assets and intercompany payables/receivables
-Maintaining the Chart of Accounts/General Ledger
-Assisting with annual agency submissions (990, 1099/1042, property tax)

Qualifications:
-2-3 years’ accounting/finance experience; knowledge of non-profit general ledger systems and budgeting is preferred
-Bachelor's degree in a related field
-Precision and capability to produce accurate and timely information
-Discretion and integrity to handle sensitive materials appropriately
-Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
-Proven ability to understand and develop relationships with internal customers to successfully anticipate and satisfy their needs
