The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking an Outreach Associate for Financial and Monetary Policy as part of our federal outreach team to lead outreach efforts for our Financial Markets Working Group and Program on Monetary Policy on related issues before Congress and federal agencies. This role would report to the Director of Federal Outreach.
-Providing up to date information about current and anticipated policy action to inform the 20-member working group
Securing invitations for scholars to brief and testify before relevant committees, Members of Congress, and agency decision makers
Developing dissemination strategies and tools to promote Mercatus financial policy research to policymakers and the public
Presenting the Mercatus Center’s research to policymakers, academics, and non-profit organizations
Working collaboratively with the Media Relations and Events Strategy teams to promote Mercatus research
-Strong knowledge of financial services policy issues and current debates
-Familiarity with rulemaking procedures and regulatory policy analysis
-At least 2 years of work experience on or with either senior Congressional committee staff (Financial Services, Banking, Oversight, Judiciary, etc.) or senior agency policy staff (SEC, CFTC, Treasury, etc.).
-Excellent project management skills
-Bachelor's degree in political science, economics, or related field
