The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking a Program Manager as part of our State and Local Policy Project to manage our research production.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Under the supervision of the Program Director, manage and grow the State and Local Policy Project. Serve as the primary point of contact across Mercatus on this program and manage all program logistics including research and administration.
-Work with the Program Director to commission original academic research regarding state and local policy, including fiscal and regulatory policy. This includes helping to identify specific questions for research, contracting with outside university-based scholars, shepherding research from conceptualization through publication, and managing deadlines.
-Collaborate with the outreach and communications teams to develop and implement strategies to disseminate publications to Mercatus audiences.
-Write and edit quarterly and annual reports, as well as other reports as needed, that outline the program’s successes, works in progress, and goals.
-Work with the Mercatus events team to conceive, organize, and execute public events that disseminate state and local policy research to key audiences.

Minimum Requirements:
-Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving several personnel and multiple stakeholders.
-Familiarity with and enthusiasm for research related to state and local policy. An understanding of public choice, new institutional economics and/or Austrian economics is a significant plus.
-At least three years of relevant work experience in higher education or policy research.
-Commitment to the mission of Mercatus.
-Supervisory experience is preferred.
-A BA or BS in economics or a related field. An advanced degree, or substantive professional experience with policy analysis, is preferred.
