Washington Reporter Posted May 02
National Legal and Policy Center , Falls Church, VA
Description: National political watchdog group seeks a Washington Reporter. The beat would be covering developments on ethics in Congress, including actions of the House Ethics Committee, the Office of Congressional Ethics and other watchdog groups, both conservative and liberal. The beat would also include the executive branch, including issues of accountability and transparency. Occasionally, other writing projects may be assigned.

The candidate must be capable of writing simple declarative sentences in the course of constructing clear and understandable website postings that adhere to the basics of responsible journalism. For the kind clean and objective reporting we seek, see the postings by Alana Goodman during 2010 on the National Legal and Policy Center website (www.nlpc.org).

Candidates must have previous involvement with conservative/libertarian activism and/or journalism. Journalistic experience is necessary but the appropriate skills and demonstrated commitment to the cause are more important. We are looking for a self-starter who is familiar with Word Press and can post publication-ready pieces without the benefit of an editor or proofreader. The reporter would be a part-time, independent contractor. Remuneration would be consistent with skill and experience.

Please submit resume and at least two writing samples. Please no phone calls.
